I.C.E. Your Cell Phone
.JPG)
Ada Fire Department is becoming involved with something new, a system that has been used in Europe for some time and is beginning to see more and more wide spread use in the American system. ICE your cell phone, a good way to help emergency personnel (police, fire, or ambulance personnel) know who to contact should you be involved in an emergency situation.
In your cell phone address/contact list, place the letters "ICE" - In Case of Emergency - in front of the name of the person or persons that you would like to be contacted in such a situation. That way, should you become unconscious, or otherwise unable to communicate, due to an emergency situtation, rescue workers can check the list on your phone and know right away who to contact.
For example:
ICE - Mom
ICE - Mark
ICE - Lynn
or if you have several, you may want some to be "backups" in case the first person is not available
ICE1 - Dad
ICE2 - Rick
ICE3 - Joan
Be sure to let these individuals know that they are listed as your emergency contact, and encourage them to ICE their phone as well.
If you have any questions or if you need any assistance programming your phone, feel free to
contact the Fire Department.
